About Us

Who are we?

Hometown Credit Union was founded in 1948 to serve the financial needs of employees at locally owned industries – primarily Gates Radio Company. Since that time, we have expanded our services to include anyone who lives or works in Adams County, IL, or in the 634xx area codes.

We offer checking and savings accounts, loans, credit cards, investments, insurance, online-banking, bill-pay, and much more.

What makes credit unions unique?

Members own and govern a credit union. Credit unions exist solely to provide you and other members with a safe, convenient place to save, to borrow money at reasonable rates, and to provide other financial services at little or no cost to you.

Unlike banks, we are a non-profit organization. Our board of directors is made up of unpaid elected volunteers who set the credit union’s policies. That means all the earnings go right back to you in the form of affordable loans, competitive savings rates, and better services.

Are credit unions better than banks?

Credit unions have topped the consumer satisfaction ratings in every American Banker/Gallup poll conducted since 1989. Because credit unions have a stronger connection to their members, they are in a position to offer specific services like online banking that better meet customers’ needs.

Does your bank reward you for being a good customer?

The more you use Hometown Credit Union’s services, the lower your loan rates and higher your dividend earnings will be. You earn points by using our services, and your benefits increase as you earn more points. We believe that members who use the Credit Union more deserve to be rewarded. Does your bank do that?

Earn more, pay less, and enjoy the many financial services Hometown has to offer you. We want to serve you!
